Paris

Myself and four friends recently visited Paris to take in the French culture.

We stayed in an amazing apartment in the Latin Quarter of Paris.

While in Paris we visited some of the must see tourist attractions.
The Eiffel Tower. Being stood at the top of the 300 meter tower and looking over Paris is really a breath taking experience.

Champs Elysees

When looking at Notre Dame you can see the efforts that went into the carving and engraving of this magnificent stone.
Louvre. As soon as we walked round the corner and saw the Louvre through the archway we gasped with amazement.

It was hard to believe that we were there stood in front of the most famous paintings in one of the most famous museums in the world.

Moulin Rouge! Although we didn't actually see a show it was brilliant to see where the inspiration for the film came from.

We also visited a fashion exhibition. This held exhibitions from designers from the past decade such as Vivienne Westwood, Victor and Ralf, Alexandra McQueen, Magiela and many others.
It was inspiring seeing the creations of such famous designers.

A meeting was called for our team members to discuss the areas we could look at to develop our brand.

We decided to look into Japan and the modern and contemporary are art it holds.
Modern shapes and structures from Japanese Architecture mixing with the contemporary Japanese paintings. From this we have created YEN.

Creative Realisation Techniques

I enjoyed creating these three images. I was able put detail into the drawings on illustrator.

This image below is an idea for a logo for my website page.

I decided to repeat the silhouette to make what could be a repeat pattern.

Drawing Elective

I had chosen to do the photography elective in first year which meant that I my second year I has to take part in a drawing elective.
I felt this would help me experiment with different media to help develop my skills so that I am able to experiment and develop illustrations to their full potential.

Painting a block colour onto a sheet and using bleach to draw with is an interesting way of using new media but isn't something i would consider using within my illustrations.

Continuous line drawings create lines and shapes in a unique way. It is a way of using a pencil in a different way and can also be used with different media. Often it is difficult for the same drawing or shape to be drawn with this technique.

This technique is similar to that of the bleach and painting but this time charcoal is used as the base and the silhouette of the model is erased using a rubber. A technique like this might be difficult for detailing on a product but is something which could be used as a back drop.

The effect of drawing with candle wax gives when ink is added over is one in which I enjoy. It is lovely to see the drawing revealing gradually as you add the ink.

Collaging using recycled and used paper is also a way in which interesting rendering can occur.

In the future I will try and use the above techniques to help develop my sketchbook, research and development work as well as using then in my final line up.

Second Year Begins

Having picked Pathway A (Fashion and Innovation), I am now ready, excited and motivated to start the second year - hoping to learn and pick up some different aspects of Fashion! I'm also a little apprehensive to start using some new software I haven't used so much before ... but I should be alright!
