I had chosen to do the photography elective in first year which meant that I my second year I has to take part in a drawing elective.
I felt this would help me experiment with different media to help develop my skills so that I am able to experiment and develop illustrations to their full potential.
Painting a block colour onto a sheet and using bleach to draw with is an interesting way of using new media but isn't something i would consider using within my illustrations.
Continuous line drawings create lines and shapes in a unique way. It is a way of using a pencil in a different way and can also be used with different media. Often it is difficult for the same drawing or shape to be drawn with this technique.
This technique is similar to that of the bleach and painting but this time charcoal is used as the base and the silhouette of the model is erased using a rubber. A technique like this might be difficult for detailing on a product but is something which could be used as a back drop.
The effect of drawing with candle wax gives when ink is added over is one in which I enjoy. It is lovely to see the drawing revealing gradually as you add the ink.
Collaging using recycled and used paper is also a way in which interesting rendering can occur.
In the future I will try and use the above techniques to help develop my sketchbook, research and development work as well as using then in my final line up.
