Chatsworth House is a Manor house in the Peak District which holds amazing architecture and interior design work of which the Duke of Devonshire's family have collected for over 16 generations.
Such a grand building with aspects of French architecture.
Here I am trying on some 19th century costumes. Beginning to feel right at home in a tradition bedroom :)
A hall dedicated to classic paintings of previous Dukes. Each painting is in keeping with the previous with detailed areas of the face and clothing.

Research Practices
For my research practices I have decided to mix the elements of the hidden identity of the Geisha girls and the hard armour of the samurai warriors.
I hope to create some form of jewelery that shows the structure of the armour to help hide the innocence of the Geisha girl.

Geisha
Geisha girls have a hidden identity this includes the thoughts of which that Geisha girls are used for 'prostitution'.
They were all given the same style kimono to wear and makeup was limited to hide their identity.
Geisha girls are originally known for their ways of entertainment through Japanese dance but it is also thought that at the same time they would offer themselves to married men through the means of flirting. It is thought that if the Geisha revels the wrist to the man while serving them tea that it is an act of flirting.

Japanese Armour
For my research practices I have decided to stick to the Japanese theme but this time look into a different field.
One aspect I have come across is samurai warriors.
I LOVE how the armour is structured and serves its purpose while at the same time looks so elegant with delicate detailing with the use of knotting threads, printed and laser cut materials.
Here are some examples of the armour and materials i have found from visiting the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
The inner of the armour is decorated with gold which makes it look and feel less like armour.
The different threading used in the armour for detailing.
The dark black mixed with golds makes the print on the materials look authentic and effective.

Research Practices
New brief and final project of second year.
We have been given a new brief called "research practices". This brief is designed to help develop the skills used to enable every corner of research is covered.
I have decided to look into Japanese Geisha girls along side Japanese samurai soldiers.
I am looking to explore the how the amour of the samurais is used as projection while as the same time has such elegant detailing.
I want to use the geisha girls to look at how they hide their identity through the form of entertainment to gentlemen.
